"Get the smile you deserve with Invisalign treatment at XDC Dental Clinic"
Invisalign are removable, clear aligners made from medical grade polyurethane designed to adjust your teeth comfortably stage-by stage. Invisalign is a popular choice of orthodontic treatment for adults since it is non-visible.
Why Invisalign?
- Less noticeable than traditional braces
- Physically comfortable to wear – no wires or brackets
- Fewer dentist visits and shorter treatment time than metal braces
- No dietary restrictions – simply remove your aligners to eat whatever you want
How Does Invisalign Work?
Invisalign treatment uses a computer-generated mold to permanently straighten teeth. At the beginning of the treatment, your dentist will take a 3D scan of your teeth. The scan provides a precise, high-resolution image of your teeth and gums, which will be used to create a personalized treatment plan for you.
Invisalign process
- Your dentist will take x-rays, 3D scans and photos of your teeth
- The images are sent to an Invisalign lab and used to create the invisible Invisalign aligners that fit perfectly to your teeth
- Your custom-made Invisalign clear aligners are fitted
- Follow-up appointments with your dentist to check your progress and pick up new trays
- After treatment is complete, your dentist will give you removable retainers to protect the results of your treatment
How long does treatment take?
Treatment can take from 6 months to 1.5 years to complete depending on the patient. Most patients will be able to see a noticeable difference within a few weeks to a couple of months.
What You Should Know Before Invisalign Treatment
Invisalign is suitable for most adults and children over 8 years of age, and can be used in conjunction with upper and lower jaw surgery procedures. Your dentist will consider a number of things, such as the severity of your case, your age and your commitment to the process before deciding whether Invisalign treatment is right for you.
Invisalign treatment isn’t painful, although you may feel some discomfort after a new aligner is put in due to the pressure of your teeth moving to a better position. This discomfort normally subsides after the first few days as you get used to wearing your aligner.
Invisalign uses a tight-fitting, custom-made clear aligner, which makes it a discreet option for adults and teenagers. While Invisalign aligners aren’t completely invisible, they are see-through clear and much less noticeable than traditional braces.
Invisalign aligners aren’t meant to be worn while eating, so you will have to remove them every time before you eat. The good thing is that the aligners are easily removed so your diet is not restricted. Colored liquids like Coke, juice or coffee can remain trapped under the aligner and stain your teeth, so you must remove your aligner before consuming them. Plain water and colorless/light-colored liquids are fine to drink with your aligner on.
Invisalign is designed to gently nudge your teeth into a better position by small movements. As your teeth shift into a new position, you will need to progress to another set of aligners (removable trays). New trays are given every two weeks, with most adults going through 20-30 trays throughout the course of their treatment.
Yes, you will need to wear a retainer after your Invisalign treatment to help your teeth stay in their new position. It is important to wear your retainer during the day and at night for the first weeks and months after your treatment. After your teeth get used to the new alignment, your dentist will direct you to wear your retainer only at night.
